When Do You Need New Tires?
So, when exactly do you need to start shopping for new tire sales and replace your tires? Many factors play into this, but a general rule of thumb is to replace tires every 50,000 miles or so on average. This equates to every five or six years, depending on your driving habits. If you make the five-year mark and your tires are still in great shape, we recommend bringing them in for an evaluation to confirm their condition. If we deem they are still safe to drive on, we encourage an annual inspection after that. However, we don’t encourage you to wait on the calendar or odometer if you notice frequent pressure loss, sidewall damage, or poor tread depth. These are all signs that your tires aren’t aging properly and should be looked at. Once a tire’s integrity is compromised, a new tire is often the best solution. If you need new tires or would like a professional to check on the condition of yours, please give our tire sales team a call at (703) 263-2474 to schedule an appointment! We are happy to perform an inspection and let you know the next steps.
Tire Care Tips
Besides buying new tires on schedule, it’s important to care for them regularly so they can take care of you. A great way is by adhering to your vehicle’s tire maintenance schedule. This includes tire rotations, tire balances, air pressure adjustments, and wheel alignments. It’s important to maintain proper tire pressure for your safety and even fuel economy. Over- or under-inflation can cause poor handling, increased tire wear, and a greater chance of blowouts. If you do notice irregular tire wear, this could indicate an issue with the tire and maybe with the brakes, suspension, and other nearby systems. This is why we recommend staying proactive and consulting our tire sales specialists when something looks, sounds, or seems off with your tires. Of course, your tires should always be serviced, inspected, and installed by a qualified auto shop, and that’s what we are at G&C Tire & Auto Service! We invite you in for tire sales, service, repair, and anything in between! We are located at 14008 Willard Rd Chantilly, VA 20151.
